The smallest of Phuket's three main tourist beaches, Kata Beach
remains picturesque and unspoiled. The beach itself is wide, gracefully
curved, and bordered by hills, forest and low-rise structures. The
sand is a sparkling white and the waters are perfect for swimming.
A vibrant coral reef lies at the north end and stretches out toward
Poo Island, about half a kilometer offshore. There are abundant
dining, bar and tour facilities in the locale. The beach is served
by local tuk-tuks and taxis and a regular daily bus service to and
from Phuket Town.
